Villa have announced that they hope to complete a deal for Helenius, 22, in the next ten days, subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The fee for the striker is believed to be in the region of £2m and Villa have made public the negotiations with AaB, to comply with stock market regulations in Denmark.

The player’s agent, Mads Bach Lund, told Ekstra Bladet: “This interest has not developed overnight. We have known about this for a long time, and we think the overall package looks very interesting.”

Helenius was the second top scorer in the Danish Superliga last season, scoring 16 goals in 33 appearances.

Meanwhile, Villa have announced online betting firm Dafabet as the club's main sponsor this season.

Villa have entered into a two-year agreement with the Asian website in a move that will also see the club's chosen charity benefit from the association.

Chief executive Paul Faulkner said: "This will be a good and positive partnership for the club and crucially for us, during negotiations, Dafabet displayed a strong willingness to work with us in our continued support for Acorns."
