Brechin's unbeaten start to Scottish League One came to an end following a 2-1 defeat at Livingston.
The home side had twice gone close to breaking the deadlock with Sean Crighton heading against a post before Liam Buchanan stabbed a shot just wide.
But Danny Mullen did fire Livi into a 33rd-minute lead when he tapped in a rebound after Graeme Smith could only parry Buchanan's effort - his seventh goal of the season.
Brechin's Andrew Jackson had a shot cleared off the line by Alan Lithgow before Scott Pitman added a second in the 65th minute with a 20-yard strike into the top corner.
Substitute Alan Trouten pulled a goal back 18 minutes from time, his strike going in via the underside off the bar, but they could not find an equaliser.
