Chesterfield's last game in the Football League at the Proact Stadium ended in a 1-0 victory over Newport County thanks to another Kristian Dennis goal.
The striker bagged his 21st of the season in the second half as relegated Chesterfield ended a run of four defeats.
Newport went close in the ninth minute when Josh Sheehan's 15 yard shot was turned behind by Aaron Ramsdale who also had to parry a drive from Aaron Collins in the 28th minute.
Sheehan forced him into another save two minutes later as Newport dominated but Chesterfield broke quickly in the 30th minute and Andy Kellett had a shot blocked.
But Newport went close once more in the 39th minute and Padraig Amond's lob was cleared off the line by Sid Nelson, who collided with a post and had to be substituted.
Jacob Brown lifted Chesterfield after the break, forcing Joe Day into a diving save in the 59th minute and they went ahead in the 71st minute when Louis Dodds' cross was headed in at the back post by Dennis.
