Everton end rut as Zouma, Calvert-Lewin down Bournemouth

Goals from Kurt Zouma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were enough for Everton to secure all three points with a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at Goodison Park.

Both sides came into the contest on the back of a disappointing spell of form with Everton having only won one of their last eight Premier League matches and Bournemouth registering just a single victory from their last six games.

And it was the visitors who started the brighter but, with the injured Callum Wilson missing, Bournemouth were unable to capitalise despite creating the better chances.

David Brooks came closest to opening the scoring for the away side when he hit the post, having been played in by Junior Stanislas.

However, Everton soon started to grow in the game as Michael Keane hit a header onto the bar before Richarlison had an effort cleared off the line by Nathan Ake in the second half.

And the hosts made their dominance count on 61 minutes as Zouma was left unmarked in the Bournemouth box to head Lucas Digne's cross past Asmir Begovic.

Calvert-Lewin made the points secure as he finished a quick counterattack with virtually the last kick of the game to make it 2-0.

The result takes Everton above Wolves -- who face Manchester City on Monday -- and into 10th place, while Bournemouth stay 12th.
