Eric Young Jr. showing off his wheels

August, 20, 2010
Fantasy owners feeling the need for speed down the stretch should pay close attention to Eric Young Jr. of the Colorado Rockies.

The 25-year-old second baseman missed three months earlier this season because of a stress fracture in his leg, but it hasn't appeared to have affected his speed since he returned. Young has started the past five games for the Rockies since being activated, and manager Jim Tracy said he expects to give Young a long audition in the team's leadoff spot, especially given the team's problems this season finding a leadoff hitter who can post a good on-base percentage. The release of Brad Hawpe further clears the road for regular playing time for the speedster.
