DeMerit likely out for U.S.

PARK CITY, Utah -- The U.S. squad knew coming into Saturday's vital World Cup qualifier with El Salvador that it would play without one of its starting central defenders.

Now it looks like it may be without both of them.

With Oguchi Onyewu suspended for Saturday's match at Rio Tinto Stadium because of yellow-card accumulation in the qualifying rounds, his backline mate, Jay DeMerit, sat out of training for the fourth straight day on Thursday with a slight groin strain.
