Israel Adesanya takes over at middleweight in divisional rankings

Israel Adesanya rose to the occasion on Oct. 6 to become champion. Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC/Getty Images

Israel Adesanya's rise in the rankings is a no-brainer. It comes with the territory when you win a championship belt by defeating the only man ranked above you in your weight class.

But beyond "The Last Stylebender" becoming UFC middleweight champ with his Oct. 6 TKO victory over Robert Whittaker, there is some some other movement in the ESPN divisional rankings.

Right there in the 185-pound division, there's a new name in the Top 10. Same thing at both lightweight and men's flyweight. And then there were the cases of two fighters flip-floping their spots, which happened at lightweight and strawweight.

So there is some movement here.

Check out my rankings within each MMA weight division by clicking on the links below.

Note: Results are current, rankings as of Oct. 11.
