India have created history, beating 14-time-winners Indonesia 3-0 to lift their first ever Thomas Cup.

Lakshya Sen came from a game down to beat Anthony Ginting, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty did the same to beat Mohammad Ahsan and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo while Kidambi Srikanth swept Jonathan Christie aside in straight games.

Lakshya pulled off a sensational turnaround in the opening match of the final to set the momentum. He lost the first game 21-8 but won the next one 21-17. In the third and final game, Lakshya was trailing by four points at the mid-game interval but turned it around by upping the ante and won the game 21-16 to give India a 1-0 lead.

In the second match of the final, Rankireddy and Shetty took on a formidable pair of Ahsan and Sukamuljo. In the second game, they saved four match points to force the decider. The third game was also a closely fought contest but Satwik-Chirag pulled it off to make it 2-0 for India in the final.

In-form Srikanth was then up against Christie and he needed two games to clinch the match and the title for India. Srikanth made it six wins out of six in the tournament, the final one ended up as historic as he defeated Christie 21-15, 23-22.
