Commit No. 20 is in for the University of Georgia, and his addition gives Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham his top target on the board for outside linebacker, and the only one for the 2013 class so far.

Naim Mustafaa (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) says he had more than 30 offers, but in the end it came down to the two in-state programs, Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Mustafaa's father, Najee Mustafaa (formerly Reggie Rutland), who played cornerback in the NFL for the Vikings, Browns and Raiders, was a star at Georgia Tech. So the Yellow Jackets would seem to have had the inside track for the talented pass-rusher. Despite the legacy, the Bulldogs were able to earn a commitment from the 6-foot-4, 235-pound outside linebacker Saturday during his trip to Athens.

“I am a Dawg," Mustafaa said. "I love the school, the Georgia fans, and I love the defense. I already had my mind made up; I just wanted to let the Georgia coaches know in person. I have known for about a week, and it feels good to be a Bulldog."

The four-star prospect has been told he will be utilized at Georgia much like All-American linebacker Jarvis Jones, who led the SEC and ranked fifth in the nation with 13 1/2 sacks last season, the second-highest total in school history. Jones has been projected as a possible top-10 pick in next year’s NFL draft, and following a similar developmental path was a big selling point to Mustafaa.

“They showed me a lot before, and today they showed me more on how I would fit in to the defense," Mustafaa said. "I love how they use Jarvis and I love his position."

The Bulldogs also benefited from an old friend of Mustafaa's, one who has emerged as not only one of the best prospects in the country but also perhaps the strongest recruiter for Georgia in the 2013 class -- coaching staff included.

"My boy Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) was the first to find out I committed," Mustaffa said. "He and I grew up together and played on the same rec ball teams.

"I have been hearing from him every day. Shaq will have you laughing. He is telling me how much he loves the program and to come be a Dawg. We actually work out together after school with the same personal trainer, so that is all I hear the whole time.”

The No. 35 prospect might become a star between the hedges in the next four years, but there is little doubt that Wiggins already has quite a fan club in the Butts-Mehre Building in Athens.
