Four-star Egu said Autzen was 'rocking'

With an intense schedule, recruits from powerhouse Concord (Calif.) De La Salle usually wait until their annual championship run is over to take their recruiting trips. With a rare Saturday off from practice, four-star linebacker Victor Egu (Concord, Calif./De La Salle) made last minute plans to visit one of his long-time favorites.

"I took my official visit to Oregon this weekend, and I'm sitting at the airport in Portland right now waiting to fly home" Egu said. "I had an open weekend, so I decided to take this visit at the last minute."

One of Oregon's top remaining targets, Egu got to spend a lot of time with some familiar faces.

"I know Coach Aliotti because of his family and DP [Ducks' LB coach Don Pellum] because he is my main recruiter" Egu said. "I also know Erick Dargan and Avery Patterson because they are from Pittsburgh (High School). It was good to see them and get to see how they do things."

Egu had previously visited Washington unofficially and has the Huskies among his top group. After touring Oregon's campus, he was able to experience Autzen Stadium as the Ducks rolled over the Huskies on Saturday night.

"Man, I had heard a lot about it up there," Egu said. "That place goes nuts. They said the Husky game is a big rivalry and you could feel it in the air. They keep it rocking all game long. It was crazy to be in there for a rivalry game at night."

Everyone knows about the facilities in Eugene, but the No. 22 outside linebacker in the country came away impressed by how things are structured in Eugene.

"I got to see a lot while I was there," he said. "The facilities really are top notch. The thing is though -- they have a lot of resources they can provide for academic support and on the football side of things. No one outside of the program really talks about that -- but that really impressed me."

While Egu loved everything about the visit, he plans to take his time with a commitment.

"Man, every about it is great," he said. "The football team is great. The coaches are great. The atmosphere and the fan support are absolutely amazing. It was a great experience overall. I need to focus on our season and continue to do my research, but Oregon will be right there until the very end."
