Rays, Scott have mutual interest

The Tampa Bay Rays are in the market for a designated hitter, and one option is a familiar face.

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports there is "mutual interest" between the Rays and Luke Scott, who hit .229 with 14 homers and 55 RBI for Tampa Bay last season. The Rays declined Scott’s $6 million option last fall, paying a $1 million buyout instead.

One option came off the board Tuesday when Delmon Young signed with the Phillies. Other free agent options include Travis Hafner, Aubrey Huff and Jim Thome.
