A report today by Vincent Goodwill of The Detroit News indicates that veteran Jason Maxiell has agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with the Orlando Magic.

The 30-year-old undersized power forward is a player Goodwill writes is "universally respected in the locker room because of his no-nonsense nature and willingness to do the dirty work," which could be just the type of presence needed on the Magic's youthful roster. But in terms of the depth chart, the move is a bit of a head-scratcher.
