Lost in the talk of how good Kentucky’s No. 1-ranked 2013 recruiting class is has been just how stellar Kansas’ No. 2 class is. With the No. 1 overall player, three in the top 20 and five overall in the top 50, the Jayhawks would have the No. 1 class in almost any other year and have assembled a class that is among the best in recent memory, at least on paper.

As a result, the expectations for the Jayhawks next season are sky high.

But games aren’t played on paper, and recruiting class rankings don’t matter once the 2013-14 college basketball season tips off. So with that in mind, let’s look at three reasons Kansas’ recruiting class might succeed in reaching those lofty expectations and three reasons it could fall short.
