Scout's Take: ESPN 100 Jericho Sims commits to Texas

Four star center Jericho Sims, who is one of the fresh faces in the recently updated ESPN 100, committed to Texas on Monday just hours after returning from his official visit to Austin. Sims is a Minnesota native who picked the Longhorns over Minnesota, Kansas and Ohio State after having a terrific summer performance where his stock raised at an alarming rate.

Why he committed: Sims thought he fit in extremely well with not only the coaches but the players while on his official visit. His relationships with head coach Shaka Smart and assistant coach Darrin Horn were big factors in his decision as well.

What he brings: At 6-foot-9 and just north of 220 pounds Sims is long, athletic and mobile. He runs the floor extremely well with long strides and is a lob threat in transition. He scores deep in the lane from drop off passes created by dribble penetration and drop steps through contact. He has nice touch in and around the lane and has the ability to get to the rim with a two or three dribble straight line drive where he simply elevates over the defender when he arrives at his sweet spot in the lane. Sims is also a very good rebounder and opportunistic shot blocker. Sims is just scratching the surface of his ability and production.
