Shivaughn Wiggins picks The Mount

5-foot-9 point guard Shivaughn Wiggins (Huntersville, N.C./North Mecklenburg H.S.) made his college choice on Tuesday, verbally committing to Mount St. Mary's, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Wiggins averaged 25.4 points, 5.2 assists and 3.2 steals as a senior, earning the Observer's I-Meck 4A player of the year.

He is the first commitment for new head coach Jamion Christian who was hired last month. Reports say shooting guard Chazz Patterson (Browns Mills, N.J./Trenton Catholic) has been granted a release from his letter of intent. The Mountaineers also hold a letter of intent from forward Greg Graves (Potomac Falls, Va./Potomac Falls H.S.) and a verbal commitment from forward Christian Crockett (Richmond, Texas/Travis).
