Heading into the spring evaluation period, not many people had heard about Oklahoma City Douglass offensive lineman Mildren Montgomery.
A late bloomer, according to Oklahoma City Douglass coach Willis Alexander, Montgomery started to break out during the last six weeks with offers from Texas Tech and North Texas.
And while other schools began to show interest, Montgomery was ready to end the process and confirmed his commitment to the Red Raiders on Monday night.
“There was something about them when I went there for junior day,” Montgomery said. “The coaches are great. It just felt right.”
Montgomery, who is 6-foot-4 and 251 pounds, camped at Oklahoma on Sunday morning and had a good outing. The Red Raiders, though, have been showing him the most interest.
Montgomery is the 12th commitment for Tech’s 2014 class and second offensive lineman, joining Cibolo (Texas) Steele's Deionte' Noel.
