Three-star defensive back Tre Flowers (Converse, Texas/Judson) is back on the market.
Flowers said Monday evening that he has reopened his process and will look at other options before making a final decision. Flowers originally committed to Arizona State on Oct. 7.
“I just sat down with my family,” Flowers said, “and it seemed like it was the best decision to make.”
Flowers said he felt his commitment was slightly rushed, and he said he would weigh all options before announcing a decision. He also mentioned that he has a new favorite while he’s uncommitted.
“Right now, I’m leaning towards Oklahoma State,” Flowers said. “Through it all, they’ve been sticking with me. They’ve shown that they really like me, and I’ve always liked them.”
Flowers has been in constant contact with Oklahoma State safeties coach Van Malone. Flowers added that he’s looking to set up an in-home visit with Oklahoma State soon, in addition to an official visit to Stillwater, Okla.
Flowers, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound safety, still has four official visits remaining. He took an official to Arizona State for the Sun Devils’ game against UCLA the weekend of Oct. 27.
Flowers, ranked No. 63 among safeties nationally, has additional offers from Boise State, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Tulsa and Utah, among other schools. Whether or not he will make a quick decision is still to be determined.
“Right now, I’m just going to go day by day,” Flowers said. “When the day comes for me to commit, everybody will know.”
