On Saturday night, Auburn will meet Clemson in the Georgia Dome as a part of the Chick-fil-A Game weekend. For 2014 linebacker Shaun Hamilton, the game has extra meaning because it pits his two tops schools against each other.
Earlier this month, AU head coach Gene Chizik invited Hamilton, a native of Carver, Ala., to attend the game.
“It’s going to be fun, knowing that both of those schools are my favorites right now,” Hamilton said. “I really look forward to seeing both of the programs.”
The 6-foot-1, 224-pound linebacker is up to nine offers and plans to visit both Auburn and Clemson during the season as well as Alabama and Florida State. The Crimson Tide are the only program of the group not to offer yet.
“They want me to come down to a game this year, so I’ll probably go visit for a game,” Hamilton said.
He’s also keeping an eye on Arkansas State where his teammate and 2013 safety Shaun Rupert committed to last week. Both Rupert and ASU head coach Gus Malzahn have been on Hamilton to take a visit.
“[Shaun] is on me real hard, talking about how I need to come on to Arkansas State, so we can build a dynasty down there,” Hamilton said. “Coach Malzahn really wants me to come down and take a visit, so I’ll probably go down there one time with Shaun.”
On Friday, Carver High School will take on Prattville in a huge Class 6A showdown.
