Recruiting Rewind: Alabama

The University of Alabama, the nation’s No. 1 team, looked good on the field with a 38-7 win over Mississippi State on Saturday, and it also had a good weekend off the field in recruiting. The Crimson Tide hosted a trio of ESPN 150 stars -- Montravius Adams, Robert Foster and Dee Liner -- among others.

Of all the visitors, Foster was the lone official visitor of the weekend. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver from Monaca, Pa., tweeted that he loved his visit to Alabama while on the way to the airport. He still plans to take official visits to Ohio State and Pittsburgh before he makes a decision between those three schools.

With Adams, the Tide have some work to do if they want to move back into the picture, but a visit over the weekend only helped their chances. The 6-foot-3, 281-pound defensive tackle said he feels more comfortable in a 4-3 defense, but the UA coaching staff assured him he could fit just as well in their 3-4. They said they would use him like they did former All-American Marcell Dareus.

“Alabama always thinks they can improve, so they try to get the best player in the country,” Adams said. “I think I could come in and help them, and that is what they want me to do.”

The surprise visitors of the weekend was Dee Liner, an Auburn commitment. The Muscle Shoals, Ala., native committed to the Tigers well over a year ago, but Alabama hasn’t given up its recruitment of the ESPN 150 defensive lineman. It could end up being an in-state battle that goes all the way to signing day.
