Utah adds a quarterback commitment

Two weeks ago, quarterback Brandon Cox (Pasadena, Calif./Pasadena) took an official visit to Utah as an Arizona verbal commitment. Last week, he backed away from his Arizona pledge and re-opened his recruitment. On Sunday, things came full circle as Cox committed to the Utes and head coach Kyle Wittingham.

After receiving an offer from Utah during that official visit, the Utes vaulted up his list of schools. And despite wanting to keep his recruitment open after his decommitment -- Cox spoke about possible official visits to Colorado and Maryland -- he made the decision on Sunday to join Utah's 2013 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-2, 184-pound signal-caller is the second quarterback in this class for the Utes, joining pocket passer Conner Manning (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro). He is commitment No. 20 overall for Utah's Class of 2013.
