Scouts: Denman fills need for Rutgers

Four-star offensive tackle J.J. Denman (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury), a one-time Penn State pledge, has now decommitted from Wisconsin and verbally committed to Rutgers. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound O-Lineman looked to be a good fit for the Badgers, but he is a nice pick-up for a Rutgers program as well that struggled to run the ball in 2011.

The big man displays the flexibility, agility, and playing strength for the tackle position. His strength at this point is in the run game and he can be a tough and even potentially dominating run blocker which makes him not only a good pick-up but he helps address a need. While he has the tools to work with he still needs to develop as a pass blocker.

Overall, Denman is a good pick-up and has enough ability and tools to potentially help early on which may be needed. Rutgers needs to improve up front and now with Denman their highest rated OL pickup, Rutgers has commitments from four O-Linemen.
