If Wilton Speight is as patient in the pocket as he is in recruiting, he'll be just fine.
The ESPN Watch List quarterback prospect from Richmond (Va.) Collegiate still doesn't have his first scholarship offer despite several recruiters telling him he's toward the top of their recruiting board. And Speight just takes it in stride.
"I'm remaining patient and trusting that if I keep doing what I am doing things will fall into place nicely," the 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior said.
Two SEC schools have shown recent interest.
"I took a visit to Alabama ... and loved it," he said. "And I just got a handwritten letter and a Facebook friend request from [Mississippi State] coach Dan Mullen."
Clearly, the Crimson Tide have impressed Speight. Mississippi State has some work to do.
"I love Alabama," he said. "Absolutely love it. But I don't know about Mississippi State yet."
Speight said West Virginia, Cincinnati, USC and Maryland have also shown interest. Speight has thrown for more than 2,300 yards and 26 touchdowns this season.
