Walker checks out UCLA, UW is next

Kenneth Walker (Richmond, Calif./Kennedy) took an official visit to UCLA over the weekend and will check out Washington next week.

Walker committed to Cal over the summer but is opening up his recruitment a bit with the recent departure of Bears WR coach Eric Kiesau.

“UCLA was a great visit, I loved everything about it,” Walker said. “It was fun being around the players and the coaches were very respectful and straight forward. They didn’t make any promises or give me guarantees but just said they have openings at receiver and if I work hard, I’ll have a chance to compete for a spot.

“Jerry Rice was my host and he was great. He showed me around and we had a fast connection, it seemed like he was someone I’ve known my whole life. All the players were great with me and I felt very comfortable with everyone. The academics are great as well, right up there with Cal so there really wasn’t a single negative about the visit. I actually thought about committing but I want to take my visit to Washington to have something to compare UCLA with.”

Walker said he’s still committed to Cal and the Bears are definitely a player in his recruitment.

“Cal is always going to be there, they’re going to be there until the end,” Walker said. “I’ve talked with the new WR coach, Wes Chandler and I think they want to come in for a home visit this week. I don’t have any home visits set up that I know but I’m sure all the schools will come in at some point.”
