QB Zack Greenlee added to UA game

The accolades keep coming for quarterback Zack Greenlee (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln). This past summer, after earning MVP honors over a loaded field at the Las Vegas Elite 11 regional, Greenlee made a statement at the Elite 11 Finals, as he was named one of the top 11 quarterbacks in attendance. Now, Greenlee will be joining the star-studded Under Armour All-America Game roster, as an injury replacement for quarterback Kohl Stewart (Houston/St. Pius X).

"It's an honor and privilege to be selected," Greenlee said. "I've watched the Under Armour All-America game every year growing up and always hoped that when my time came, I could get the opportunity to play in it."

Greenlee, the nation's No. 9 pocket passer and No. 120 player overall, led his team to an 8-4 record this season, as he threw for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns against just two interceptions.

While he isn't the highly recruited signal-caller that many of the other Under Armour Game quarterbacks are, Greenlee impressed enough this summer to warrant inclusion in the game.. Tom Luginbill, ESPN's National Recruiting Director, was pleased to be able to add Greenlee to the roster. He was disappointed that Stewart will be unable to play in the game -- the Texas A&M commit will still travel to the game but won't suit up -- but said adding Greenlee was close to a no-brainer.

"We would have liked to have looked into a dual-threat type, but when it came down to pocket guys, Greenlee was our go-to guy all along," Luginbill said. "This is a kid that doesn't care about hype, doesn't care that others are receiving it and he isn't. All he does is compete and play well when given the opportunity . ...We are excited to have him in this environment and we would expect him to make the same impression at the Under Armour All-America Game that he made on those who knew nothing of him at the Elite 11."

Greenlee's lone scholarship offer is from Fresno State, and he committed to the Bulldogs in early October. He said he's looking forward to using this final high schol experience as a launching pad.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of competing with some of the best players in the country," Greenlee said. "I believe it will be a great experience as I get ready for college."
