Alabama vs. Michigan State
Two coaches with a shared history will meet when Alabama and Michigan State square off in the Capital One Bowl.
Alabama offense vs. Michigan State defense
• Alabama's offensive line has been inconsistent, failing to get enough push in short-yardage situations and struggling to seal the edge when the Crimson Tide run outside. Michigan State doesn't have great size at defensive tackle, but Jerel Worthy, Blake Treadwell and Kevin Pickelman are disruptive run-stoppers. Their quickness should give the Crimson Tide's interior offensive linemen some problems. In addition, Spartans DEs Tyler Hoover and Colin Neely can string plays out to the sideline. They move well laterally and have the active hands to prevent tacklers from locking on. However, Tide RBs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson are tough, downhill backs who run as hard as any other ball carriers in the country. They also have the burst and vision to break off long runs when they get a seam. Michigan State MLB Greg Jones anchors a rangy linebacker corps that flies to the ball, but his group has missed some tackles at times and is sometimes caught overrunning plays. They won't get away with those kinds of mistakes against Ingram and Richardson.
