Alabama vs. LSU
The defenses will take center stage in the BCS title game
Alabama offense vs. LSU defense
• The two areas that jump out when studying film of LSU's defense are the defensive line and secondary. Studs like DE Sam Montgomery, DT Michael Brockers and CBs Morris Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu play a big role in this unit's success, but it's the depth of quality reserves along the defensive line and in the secondary that separates LSU's defense from so many other talented groups. Up front, the Tigers can rotate players like sophomore DE Barkevious Mingo and freshman DT Anthony Johnson -- both of whom could become first-round selections in future drafts -- without seeing a big drop-off in production. That not only allows LSU to be consistently dominant on every drive but also keeps its best players fresh when they are needed most in key situations.
