That's what Maryland does

One of the more underrated recruiting bases in the nation is the Maryland/Washington, D.C. area. It will not rival the big three (Florida, California and Texas), but this area produces some good talent and offers some solid depth. Over the past five classes, programs from all over the country have come here to recruit talent and this year alone programs like Florida, Miami, Penn State and Stanford have recruited and landed prospects from the area.

A good year in Maryland is giving recruiters a reason besides the crabcakes to come here. The state boasts only two ESPNU 150 prospects, but there are plenty of other good four- and three-star prospects, including Cal commit ILB Nick Forbes (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson). As for the District of Columbia, an area that has produced prospects like Illinois wide receiver Arrelious Benn, 2010 is somewhat of a down year.
