Week 17 is a unique animal. For one thing, it's a beginning -- as it's the first week of football in 2016. On the other hand, it's also an ending, as it's the last week of football before the playoffs. And for fantasy football players of all stripes, Week 17 is the most difficult slate of games to analyze due to the very real possibility that some star players may sit out significant portions of Sunday's action.
Teams like the Seattle Seahawks, who are locked into a road playoff game, may not see the need to stick with Russell Wilson for all 60 minutes. Similarly, if the Carolina Panthers go up big in their finale and put a stranglehold on the No. 1 seed in the NFC, there's little reason for either them or the Arizona Cardinals (locked in at No. 2 in that scenario) to stick with their A-team players. The Washington Redskins are another club with no zero incentive to play anyone with even a minor injury in a game that has zero impact on their postseason fate.
