Draft Watch: Alexander looks great in workouts

Play the Lottery + Mock Draft

LAS VEGAS -- After watching two of the higher-profile players in the coming NBA draft in Los Angeles on Friday, I boarded a plane for Las Vegas, where a numbing 27 players are working out in preparation for the draft.

Why Vegas? Over the past few years Vegas has become the de facto hot spot for NBA veterans working out. Trainer Joe Abunassar has a gym just minutes from the strip. They can spend their days working out and then at night, well … use Bill Simmons' imagination.

A number of NBA veterans including Jermaine O'Neal, Mike Miller and Al Harrington have been joining a plethora of prospects including Joe Alexander, Marreese Speights, Richard Hendrix, Malik Hairston and international mystery men Nathan Jawai and Giorgi Shermadini.

Remember, one day of workouts can't and shouldn't override years of scouting. It's just one piece of a much larger puzzle. However, these workouts do give you a different look at players and they can have weight in the NBA draft evaluation process.

Here's a look at one very busy day at Abunassar's Impact Basketball in Vegas.
