The path for Joel Embiid to be the surprise No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA draft got a little clearer on Tuesday when he landed in Cleveland to undergo a physical and workout for the Cavs on Wednesday, as reported by ESPN's Jeff Goodman on Monday.

But to be the first player to shake NBA commissioner Adam Silver's hand on draft night, Embiid must overcome two obstacles. The first is the cadre of doctors the Cavs will throw at him in Cleveland. The second is owner Dan Gilbert, who has given Cavs management a mandate to win now.
