Trade Grades: Grizzlies get Green

Can Jeff Green make the Memphis Grizzlies a better team? Justin Ford/USA TODAY Sports

Let's take a look at how the Boston Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans did in their trade today. Here's a breakdown of the deal:

Celtics get: guard Austin Rivers and forward Tayshaun Prince, future Memphis first-round pick (conveys two years after Grizzlies' first-round pick goes to Denver Nuggets)

Grizzlies get: forward Jeff Green

Pelicans get: forward Quincy Pondexter

Boston Celtics: B+

With two trades in a span of days, it's clear Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge is in teardown mode. Everyone with an expiring contract must go! That included Brandan Wright, dealt Friday to the Phoenix Suns, and Green, who can opt out of the final season of his deal to become a free agent this summer. From that standpoint, this deal was fairly straightforward. The Celtics add another first-round pick to their ever-expanding stockpile and -- as noted by Grantland's Bill Simmons on Twitter -- clear playing time for rookie James Young.
