Trade targets: 'Buy-low' options

After Josh Smith rejected the Atlanta Hawks' offer of the largest possible extension (three years, $47 million) last week, it's open season on trade rumors involving Smith. A source told our Chris Broussard that there's a 60 percent chance the Hawks move Smith, who can become a free agent this summer, before the Feb. 21 trade deadline.

Broussard reported Sunday that the Brooklyn Nets are in hot pursuit of Smith. As they and other teams kick the tires on a possible deal, they need to answer an important question: Which Smith will they get? The one who was a prominent omission from the Eastern Conference All-Star team in 2010 and 2012, or this year's version with a PER only slightly better than league average?
