American big man Marcus Lee has agreed to a deal with Melbourne United for the remainder of the 2022-23 NBL season, sources told ESPN.

Lee will replace Jordan Caroline as an import for United, sources said, with the hopes of adding to the team's frontcourt depth. Caroline averaged 5.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in his six outings for United, shooting just 27.5 percent from the field, before a hamstring injury sidelined him.

Lee, a 6'11 centre who's known for playing above the rim, is coming off a short stint with Basquet Manresa in Spain's Liga ACB and the Basketball Champions League, averaging 7.1 points and 5.2 rebounds, in 20 minutes a game.

The 28-year-old will fill the big-man hole left by Ariel Hukporti, United's Next Star who tore his Achilles in the preseason.

Lee attended the University of Kentucky with current United centre, Isaac Humphries, before playing his senior year of college basketball at California.

United's next game is against the Adelaide 36ers on Thursday, though it's unlikely Lee suits up for it.
