Front-office priorities
What management's to-do list should include this offseason.
1. Getting cap compliant is the first order of business, and with WR Sidney Rice and DT Red Bryant already released, DE Chris Clemons should be another name to watch. Given the value Clemons adds as a pass-rusher, it will be interesting to see if he is willing to take a significant pay cut in order to finish his career in Seattle. Aging pass-rushers have not fared well on the open market.
2. Adding a big, vertical, outside-lane threat at the wide receiver position is a key. It is a good thing that this is a receiver-heavy draft, as it appears many teams need one. Although Golden Tate could sign a new deal, Doug Baldwin is a restricted free agent with little chance of getting out of town. Jermaine Kearse is one of my favorite players on this roster. Adding another dimension will only make this team more capable of repeating in 2014.
3. When healthy, the offensive line as a group is better than the sum of its parts, but there was more than enough evidence last season that the depth needs to be addressed. Right tackle Breno Giacomini is also an unrestricted free agent, and all it takes is one team to make a ridiculous offer, and you have more issues.
