Front-office priorities
What management's to-do list should include this offseason.
1. Adjust to the new head coach. What does Jim Caldwell bring to the table as far as protocols and procedures that will specifically address the development and consistency of this team as a whole on the field and off? And specifically, how does that new approach pertain to QB Matthew Stafford?
2. Keep improving the run game. With the retention of offensive line coach Jeremiah Washburn, and the exceptional development of young offensive linemen such as 2013 third-round pick Larry Warford, this team can take the next step and become balanced under the new regime -- if they want to. It's a possibility Detroit can improve on its 4.03 rush yards per play, 22nd in the league in '13.
3. A young, reliable, high-upside receiver is needed to align opposite Calvin Johnson following the release of veteran Nate Burleson due to cap reasons. There is no viable No. 2 receiver on the roster.
