The 2011 San Francisco 49ers went 13-3, won the NFC West and came within an overtime field goal of playing in the Super Bowl. For all that success, though, they were not a complete team. They were second in the league in scoring defense, but their scoring offense of 23.8 points per game ranked outside the top 10. They were a one-dimensional squad that had to win games through field position and ball security. This season, they have an offense that's nearly as good at scoring points as their defense is at preventing them.

Only three teams are scoring more than the 49ers' 29.8 points per game. Last year, the 49ers were a viable championship contender, and they're even more dangerous this year.
