When it comes to the running back position, durability is one of the best traits a back can have. You can be as fast as Usain Bolt, but if you can't stay on the field, what good are you? It's for that reason that many of the names you'll see on the list below are younger players with a lot of tread left on their tires. Here's a look at the top running backs for the 2016 season.

1. Trent Richardson, Cleveland Browns

This time last year, I picked Richardson, who had yet to take an NFL snap, as my bet to be the best running back of the 2015 season. After seeing Richardson at the NFL level for one year, I am more confident of this prediction in some ways, but more leery in others. In terms of just pure ability, Richardson is everything he was cracked up to be coming out of Alabama. But what makes me cautious are the injuries Richardson has had to deal with since entering the league. Given his history, I can't wait to see what Richardson can do if truly healthy -- especially with the new coaching regime in Cleveland.
