Best fits for four top NHL trade deadline targets

Even though the big names don't usually move at the deadline, and don't always have the greatest impact on the playoffs even when they do, we are naturally drawn to the moves that make the biggest splashes.

Whether it's Butch Goring in 1980, Ron Francis in 1991, Ray Bourque in 2000, Marian Hossa in 2008, or Marian Gaborik in 2014, nothing makes deadline day more exciting than when a superstar switches uniforms.

To find this year's four most exciting possible moves, we started with the biggest names rumored to be available, and used some modern stats to choose the destination where each player would have the maximum impact -- provided that the trading partner had the necessary assets to make each trade mutually beneficial.
