The NSW Waratahs will become the 'inner-west' Waratahs this season, with the club today confirming their home venues for the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season, with Leichhardt Oval set to host five of their seven fixtures.

Like the last two seasons, the Waratahs will play their home matches across three different venues, with the Sydney Cricket Ground and CommBank Stadium confirmed as venues.

Due to the updated fixtures and competition with NRL, AFL and A-Leagues to secure venues, many of the Waratahs original venues were no longer available, but despite the difficulties, Waratahs CEO Paul Doorn was happy the team would be situated at a consistent venue through the season.

"As we navigate the final season away from our brand-new home at the Sydney Football Stadium, we are excited to lock in Leichhardt Oval for five of our seven fixtures," Doorn said.

"The decision to host most our fixtures at Leichhardt Oval provides an opportunity for a consistent game day experience for our members and partners at one of the most iconic small grounds in NSW.

"After years of splitting games across the greater Sydney Metropolitan Area and Regional NSW we are excited to build a real sense of a home venue for the side at Leichhardt Oval in 2022."

The Waratahs will open their season against Fijian Drua at CommBank Stadium as they welcome the new side to the competition, before they return to the iconic SCG to face the Rebels in Round 5.
