      Alloa brush aside East Fife to trim Livingston's lead at top

      Alloa closed the gap on Ladbrokes Scottish League One leaders Livingston to six points following their 3-0 victory over East Fife.Greig Spence's 20th goal of the season put the hosts ahead after 11 minutes when he headed home Scott Taggart's centre before Kevin Cawley doubled the advantage just before the break.Substitute Jamie Longworth added gloss to the scoreline 10 minutes from time to extend the Wasps' unbeaten run to five domestic matches.Brechin produced a fine 3-1 comeback victory against Queen's Park to earn their first win in seven league matches.Bryan Wharton opened the scoring with a free-kick after four minutes for the Spiders but Ally Love quickly levelled with a set-piece of his own four minutes later.Dougie Hill latched onto a long ball from Liam Watt to head the hosts in front before the break with Andrew Jackson scoring with virtually the last kick of the match to seal all three points for Darren Dods' side.

        Millar goal lifts Stenhousemuir off the bottom

        Stenhousemuir climbed off the bottom of Ladbrokes Scottish League One after edging a 1-0 win at home to fellow strugglers Stranraer.Kieran Millar scored his first of the season with a powerful finish in the 68th minute shortly after the hosts had a goal disallowed for offside.The result sees the Warriors climb one point above Stranraer, who have now lost two games on the bounce.Leighton McIntosh scored and was sent off for Peterhead as they kept themselves away from the bottom two with an unlikely 1-0 win away at high-flying Alloa.Alloa, who remain second in the table, were looking to close the gap on Livingston at the top after the leaders saw their clash with Albion Rovers postponed, but fell behind to McIntosh's 49th-minute strike.The striker was then sent off for two yellow cards, but the visitors clung on to claim a vital three points.Airdrie drew level with Alloa after a late Jack Leitch goal snatched a point in a 2-2 draw.They took the lead through Andy Ryan's effort just before the half hour, but Jason Kerr's header made it level at the break.Ross Brown headed the visitors into the lead before Leitch grabbed a late goal to share the points.

          East Fife stun Scottish League One leaders Livingston

          East Fife stunned runaway leaders Livingston with a 2-1 victory in Ladbrokes Scottish League One.Liam Buchanan gave Livingston an early lead but substitute Jamie Insall equalised with a quarter of an hour remaining and Scott Robinson grabbed the winner just three minutes later.That was not the only surprise of the day in the division, with Stranraer securing only their sixth win of the campaign with a 1-0 victory at Queen's Park to climb off the bottom.Willie Gibson scored the only goal of the game with a 20-yard effort an hour in.Elsewhere Alloa secured a thrilling 4-2 win over Stenhousemuir, who dropped to the foot of the table.Alan Cook put Stenhousemuir ahead after nine minutes but Kevin Cawley, Greig Spence and Jordan Kirkpatrick turned the contest on its head before half-time.Kirkpatrick completed his brace after the interval, with Oli Shaw netting a late consolation for the home side.

            Swindon dumped out of FA Cup after upset defeat to Eastleigh

            Non-league Eastleigh produced a shock upset as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Swindon to book their spot in the FA Cup second round.Jai Reason, Andy Drury and Mikael Mandron were on the scoresheet as the Spitfires stunned their Sky Bet League One hosts, who scored a consolation late on through Nathan Delfouneso in the first-round replay.The National League side took a 16th-minute lead when Reason finished off a flowing move, which included a clinical one-two between the midfielder and Scott Wilson.Former Ipswich winger Reason attempted to double his tally two minutes later but his 25-yard strike was held on the dive by Lawrence Vigouroux, before seeing a similar chance deflected behind.The Robins had a glorious chance to equalise in the 31st minute but Luke Norris fired straight at Ryan Clarke when slipped through by an audacious outside of the foot pass by Michael Doughty.The lead was doubled when Mandron fed Drury on the counter attack, before the midfielder coolly beat Swindon goalkeeper Clarke and slotted in.In the 74th minute the upset was completed when Wilson was dragged down by Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill and Mandron dispatched the penalty via Vigouroux's elbow.The Robins grabbed a consolation with 11 minutes to go when Delfouneso charged down Clarke's goal kick.But Eastleigh have now reached the second round for the third year in a row, having never reached that stage beforehand, and notched their second win against a Football League side.

              East Fife 1-1 Dundee

              East Fife made Dundee pay the penalty at Bayview in a dramatic conclusion to the first game of their Betfred Cup campaigns.Kane Hemmings had handed Dundee a first half lead but his effort was wiped out by Kevin Smith's late free-kick for the home side.The game went to a penalty shoot-out and Scott Robinson scored the winning spot kick for the home side after Rory Loy and James Vincent had missed.The Fifers certainly were not overawed by their Premiership opponents and took the game to Dundee during the opening exchanges.Scott Mercer's run through on goal had to be stopped by Darren O'Dea while David Mitchell was called into action to smother a Scott Robinson free-kick.Dundee eventually grew into the game but failed to really threaten the East Fife goal.The visiting support, clearly expecting a more dominant showing from their side against their League One opponents, began to grow restless as Dundee were held.East Fife were well drilled at the back and swamped their opponents each time they tried to conjure something up.The game needed something special to open it up and it arrived with less than 10 minutes before the break when Hemmings beat Willie Muir with a dipping volley which crashed in off the post.The quality of the Dundee frontman was evident and he went close to snatching another goal, denied only by a last ditch Jason Kerr tackle.To their credit the Fifers continued to poke and prod as they tried to work their way back into the game.Kyle Wilkie and Kevin Smith both tried to carve open the Dundee defence but found the visitors in a mean mood and not about to give up their clean sheet lightly.O'Dea again had to look lively to cut out Smith's path to goal as the Fife frontman got ready to pull the trigger.With the clock ticking down East Fife grabbed the equaliser their play had merited.Kevin Holt pulled down Chris Duggan on the edge of the area, gifting the Fifers a free-kick.Smith stepped up and curled a superb effort into David Mitchell's top corner.That took the game to a penalty shoot-out and Robinson converted to earn his side an extra point.ends
