Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas offensive lineman Kyle Schafenacker was offered a scholarship by SMU in the spring and will take an unofficial visit to the Dallas school in the next few weeks.

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound junior has also camped at Miami and South Florida this month. He currently holds offers from South Carolina, Marshall, Florida Atlantic, Cincinnati and UConn.

"I really liked the Miami camp; they had nice facilities," Schafenacker said. "Coach [Art] Kehoe worked with me on the way I'm using my hands. He's a good coach, very enthusiastic."

Schafenacker had similar positive experiences with South Florida offensive line coach Steve Shankweiler and he thinks an offer from the Bulls could be coming.

"Coach Shankweiler showed me some new pass-blocking techniques, so I really appreciated that," Schafenacker said. "I think they like me and the coaches said they want to review my film this week. I think they are going to offer me."

Schafenacker is excited to see the SMU campus up close.

"I really like the academics there," Schafenacker added. "It seems like a real good mix between athletics and academics, much like my high school."

Schafenacker said he is also planning to attend Jimbo Fisher's football camp at Florida State on July 18 before shutting things down and preparing for August training camp.
